Doug Lachance is the Founder & President of Design 4 Lean Solutions Inc.  With over 20 years of international experience, Doug and his global team of experts offer consultancy, corporate training and education, specializing in Continuous Improvement and Lean Six Sigma Training and Events across a broad range of sectors.

As a Senior Lean Management Consultant, Master and Trainer, Doug has been an agent of change helping clients transform their organizations into effective lean enterprises.  

Doug studied lean principles extensively with Isuzu in Japan and was pivotal in developing McCain Food’s popular 6S for Success (5S + 1Safety) Visual Factory program, a global initiative to implement the same look and feel at all 52 manufacturing sites worldwide. 

Doug has a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (LSSBB) Certification in Lean and Six Sigma from Strategy Breakthrough Transformation Innovation (SBTI) in Milwaukee.  He has a Lean Master Certificate with emphasis in Leadership and Managing Organizational Change from Isuzu and ITO University.  

Doug is an accomplished facilitator, trainer and presenter. He has trained over 10,000 people, mentored 500+ people and has helped complete 500+ projects with results that range between $50,000 and $112 million dollars in savings. His facilitation expertise runs the gamut, from facilitating leadership retreats with top executives, to facilitating Process Walks, Kaizen Events and project team meetings. 


Lean White Belt Program


This program provides an overview of the core principles of lean thinking and the essential lean tools and practices that can be applied across a variety of industries to increase productivity and quality; improve customer and employee satisfaction and reduce waste. Participants will develop an understanding of what Lean is, what it means for the organization and their customers.


Learning Outcomes:
  • Define Lean, its core values and benefits for the organization, and its brief history. 
  • Understand the five Lean principles and how Lean organizations create value
  • Recognize the costs and quality issues associated with modern day manufacturing and benefits associated with implementing Lean to address key challenges.
  • Identify the eight types of waste found in the workplace and distinguish value added and non-value-added activities
